Interstate 376 Pennsylvania

Interstate 376 connects Interstate 279 in downtown Pittsburgh to Interstate 76 and the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Monroe. Between Interstate 279 and Pennsylvania 885, the interstate is very narrow as it is squeezed between downtown Pittsburgh and the Monongahela River. Once leaving the downtown area, the speed limit increases to 55 and Interstate 376 enters the Squirrel Hill Tunnel. The remainder of the interstate travels through the suburbs of Edgewood, Churchill, and Monroeville.

Interstate 376, U.S. 22, and U.S. 30 West
As we prepare to merge onto the westbound Penn-Lincoln Parkway from Forward Avenue, we see to the left the Exit 5 ramp to Beechwood Avenue. The ramp does a U-turn then merges onto the eastbound lanes for a short length before departing on the eastbound Exit 5 ramp. Both directions use the same ramp to Beechwood Boulevard. Interstate 376, U.S. 22, and U.S. 30 West assurance shields as we draw within one mile of Exits 3A-B - Pennsylvania 885. The state highway travels along the Boulevard of the Allies from Bates Street just north of Interstate 376 to its northern terminus at Interstate 579. (Photo taken 7/8/05)

An emergency pull-off is located between Exits 2B and 3A for those who need to pull their vehicle over to a shoulder. The westernmost three miles of the interstate have these because there are no shoulders otherwise due to the narrow right-of-way. (Photo taken 7/8/05)
