Grafton (pop. 5,389) is the seat of Taylor County and is at the intersection of U.S. 50 and U.S. 119. Instead of using U.S. 50 through Bridgeport, travelers are advised to continue to West Virginia 279 to U.S. 50 East. (Photo taken 7/8/05)

Soon after leaving the Clarksburg and Bridgeport area, we enter Marion County and the city of Fairmont, population 18,992. Fairmont is the state's 7th largest city and is nicknamed The Friendly City. The first Fairmont exit is Exit 132, U.S. 250, two miles. (Photo taken 7/8/05)

Fairmont is served by three exits; Exit 132 (U.S. 250) is in 1 1/2 miles, Exit 137 (West Virginia 310) is in six miles, and Exit 139 (County Route 33) is eight miles ahead. There are two exits between U.S. 250 and West Virginia 310, but neither serve Fairmont as the roads served by those exits are on the opposite side of the Tygart Valley River, which heads under Interstate 79 between exits 132 and 133.
