Interstate 70 and Interstate 670 split in this shot, taken near
the gore point. Notice the extra lane for Interstate 670 traffic,
thus shunting away traffic from Interstate 70 East, which
narrows to one lane less than a mile north of here. (Photo

South - 7th St. Trafficway. The green sign on the left with the
Interstate 70 shield assures motorists they are on Interstate 70.
A similar sign is to the left of this shot (out of view) for
Interstate 670. The two interstates' eastbound lanes run
parallel for a short length before Interstate 670 crosses over
Interstate 70. (Photo taken 11/30/02)

the highway will have just one eastbound lane after the next
exit, Exit 423B for 3rd St./James St. in 1/2 mile. (Photo

Interstate 70 East at Exit 423B - 3rd St./James St. The one
eastbound lane scenario lasts for just a short time; the highway
widens to four eastbound lanes at the Lewis & Clark Viaduct,
which can faintly be seen in the back of this shot. (Photo taken

Now on the Lewis & Clark Viaduct, eastbound Interstate 70
travelers can breathe again. These are the final assurance
shields in Kansas for Interstate 70/U.S. 24/U.S. 40 East and
U.S. 169 North, which all share the same pavement here.
