Northbound
Interstate 635 North begins and the first exit quickly
approaches. Exit 1B serves Merriam Lane and Merriam
Drive. The ramps of the interchange are visible to the right
of the interstate. (Photo taken 5/22/05)

south of Exit 1B, three-quarters of a mile south of
Exit 1C, and 2 1/4 miles south of Exit 2A. Interstate 635
enters Wyandotte County and the Kansas City limits at
this point. (Photo taken 5/22/05)

The next three interchanges all serve numbered highways;

in 2 3/4 miles. (Photo taken 5/22/05)

Interstate 635 North at Exit 3 - Kansas 32 - Kansas
Avenue. Kansas 32 provides an alternate route to the
Kansas Turnpike between Lawrence and Kansas City. The
state highway ends just east of Lawrence at U.S. 24 and
U.S. 40. If time is a concern, though, we prefer to take
Kansas 10 from Lawrence to Kansas City. (Or there's
always the Kansas Turnpike!) (Photo taken 5/22/05)
Interstate 635 North approaching Exits 4A-B -
Interstate 70 - 3/4 mile. The interchange was reconstructed
during 2003 and 2004, but the left exits were left in tact.

Interstate 635 North approaching Interstate 70,
one-quarter mile. Traffic was very light on this early
Sunday morning. Interstate 635 was used as a detour
route during the Paseo Bridge closure in downtown
Kansas City, which detoured all Interstate 29 and
Interstate 35 traffic north of downtown. (Photo taken

Interstate 635 North emerges from construction as Exit 7
for Kansas 5 West and 38th Street departs. For a few
years of my life during the mid-1990s, 38th Street was
a common street for me to travel on, as I had relatives who
lived in this area. It is not the safest of neighborhoods.
As for the interstate, it curves and heads due east for a
spell as it duplexes with Kansas 5. (Photo taken 5/22/05)

the nation's oldest industrial parks. (Photo taken 5/22/05)

Interstate 70 is the 5th longest interstate in the country
at a length of 2,175 miles. OKRoads has driven all of
those miles, and all except for the stretch between St.
Louis and Wentzville, MO, is covered on the website.
