U.S. 17 North Carolina

Throughout the Tar Heel State, U.S. 17 is a major north-south highway near the Atlantic Ocean. It connects the cities of Shallotte, Wilmington, Jacksonville, New Bern, Williamston, and Elizabeth City.

The final highway intersection U.S. 17 southbound travelers see in North Carolina is at North Carolina 904. The state highway closely parallels the South Carolina state line for most of its routing, with the exception being from Seaside to Ocean Isle Beach, during which the highway duplexes with North Carolina 179.
