Interstate 20 connects west Texas, Abilene, Fort Worth, Dallas, Shreveport, Jackson (MS), Tuscaloosa, Birmingham, Atlanta, Augusta, and Columbia (SC). Most sections of the highway are lightly traveled compared to most other interstates of similar length. The section between Birmingham and Atlanta is an exception. Interstate 20 also shares a long duplex with Interstate 59 between Meridian, MS, and Birmingham, AL.
