Interstate 526 South Carolina
Interstate 526 currently makes up half of a loop around the city of Charleston, South Carolina. Connecting to U.S. 17 at both ends, the interstate saw new signs erected during 2004. The exit numbers begin at 10 because of plans to extend the interstate southward from U.S. 17 in west Charleston to the current South Carolina 30, which leads into downtown Charleston.
At the eastern end of Interstate 526, the interstate transitions into a 2-mile long spur to South Carolina 703. Business Spur Interstate 526 is well-signed and is signed east-west, but continues the same direction from the interstate. In other words, if you are traveling on Business Spur Interstate 526 East, you are actually going west.
