Week of June 27-July 3, 2005:
Location: Superior, WI

Description: Interstate 535 and U.S. 53 South at U.S. 53/Wisconsin 35
South. This is the southern terminus of Interstate 535, which connects
Duluth, Minnesota and Superior.
Week of June 20-26, 2005:
Location: Charleston, WV
Picture taken: August 7, 2003 during Delaware Trip Part 2
Description: Interstate 64 West/Interstate 77 North at Exit 101 -
Interstate 64 West - Huntington. The northbound beginning of Interstate
79 is just three miles ahead on Interstate 77, while Interstate 64 heads
west towards Huntington, Louisville, and St. Louis.
Week of June 13-19, 2005:
Location: Portsmouth, VA
Picture taken: August 1, 2003 during Delaware Trip Part 2
Description: U.S. 58 East at Interstate 264 East, Interstate 64, and
U.S. 13 North. This marks the eastern terminus of Interstate 64, but
that interstate is not signed with a cardinal direction. This is because
Interstate 64 West actually begins by going east for several miles
before curving to the northwest. The eastbound beginning of Interstate
264 is also just ahead.
Week of June 6-12, 2005:
Location: Near Green River, UT

Description: Interstate 70 East at Exit 156 - U.S. 6 West - Price/Salt
Lake. Interstate 70 and U.S. 6 are duplexed from here to Grand Junction,
Colorado. Green River is two miles ahead and has the first services
eastbound travelers since Salina, 108 miles to the west.
Week of May 30-June 5, 2005:
Location: Wichita Falls, TX

Description: U.S. 82 East/U.S. 277 North approaching Interstate 44, U.S.
281, and U.S. 287. Interstate 44 begins less than a mile to the north of
this interchange. U.S. 82 and U.S. 277 split ahead after being duplexed
for 41 miles.
Week of May 23-29, 2005:
Location: Kansas City, KS
Picture taken: May 22, 2005
Description: Interstate 435 North at Exit 12A - Interstate 70 East - St.
Louis. The modified cloverleaf interchange is located near the Kansas
Speedway. The Kansas Turnpike begins collecting tolls about 10 miles to
the west.
Week of May 16-22, 2005:
Location: San Antonio, TX

Description: Interstate 10 West approaching Exit 572 - Interstate 10
West/Interstate 35/U.S. 87 North near downtown San Antonio. Interstate
10 prepares to exit off to the right as U.S. 90 takes over the mainline
highway. From here, Interstate 10 heads north on a short duplex with
Interstate 35 and heads to the northwest.
Week of May 9-15, 2005:
Location: Near Dandridge, TN

Description: Interstate 81 South at Exit 1A - Interstate 40 East -
Asheville. The mainline becomes Interstate 40 West as Interstate 81
concludes.
Week of May 2-8, 2005:
Location: Sioux Falls, SD

Description: Interstate 229 North at Exit 10A - Interstate 90 East. This
interchange marks the northern terminus of Interstate 229. The
interstate quickly becomes a gravel road after going underneath
Interstate 90.
Week of April 25-May 1, 2005:
Location: Spartanburg, SC
Picture taken: December 17, 2003 during the Florida Trip
Description: Interstate 85 North at Exit 70 - Interstate 26 -
Columbia/Asheville. Interstate 26 connects Interstate 81 in Johnson
City, Tennessee, with U.S. 17 in Charleston, South Carolina. We are
planning to drive all of Interstate 26 during this summer's roadtrip.
Week of April 18-24, 2005:
Location: Chester, PA

Description: Interstate 95 North at Exit 7 - Interstate 476 North -
Plymouth Meeting. As of the time this photo was taken, the Interstate
476 shield on the sign still had the state name inside it. This
interchange marks the southern terminus of Interstate 476, the longest
3-digit interstate in the country at a length of 130 miles.
Week of April 11-17, 2005:
Location: Near Blaine, OH

Description: Interstate 70 East at Exit 219 - Interstate 470 East -
Bellaire/Washington PA. Interstate 470 bypasses the downtown Wheeling
area and is the recommended route for through Interstate 70 traffic
around Wheeling. For those staying on Interstate 70, the highway will
narrow to one eastbound lane for a short time before entering the
Wheeling Tunnel in six miles.
Week of April 4-10, 2005:
Location: Near Wahpeton, ND

Description: Interstate 29 South at Exit 23B - ND 13 West - Mooreton.
Wahpeton is 10 miles to the east of this interchange that features
cloverleaf ramps on its west side, while the east side of the
interchange is a regular diamond.
Week of March 28-April 3, 2005:
Location: Near Mount Airy, NC
Picture taken: December 18, 2003 during the Florida Trip
Description: Interstate 74 West at Exit 5 - Interstate 77 South -
Statesville. Interstate 74 is duplexed with Interstate 77 for the next
five miles, then disappears at the Virginia State Line, never to be seen
again until Cincinnati, Ohio.
Week of March 21-27, 2005:
Location: Albuquerque, NM

Description: Interstate 40 East approaching downtown Albuquerque. The
next six exits are mentioned on these five signs. This is a lot of
information to try to interpret in a short time!
Week of March 14-20, 2005:
Location: Pennsville, NJ

Description: Interstate 295 South at Exit 2C - U.S. 130 - Deepwater.
Interstate 295 will cross the Delaware Memorial Bridge in about one
mile. The New Jersey Turnpike's southern terminus is also just ahead.
Week of March 7-13, 2005:
Location: Las Vegas, NV

Description: Interstate 15 North at Exit 34 - Clark County 215
West/Interstate 215 East. Highway 215 makes up a beltway around the
southern, western, and northern edges of the Las Vegas metropolitan
area.
Week of February 28-March 6, 2005:
Location: Omaha, NE

Description: Interstate 480 East at Exit 2D - 20th
Street/Auditorium/Capitol Ave. The Qwest Center is just ahead.
Interstate 480 will end in two miles at Interstate 29 in Council Bluffs,
IA.
Week of February 21-27, 2005:
Location: Sikeston, MO

Description: Interstate 55 North at Exit 66A - Interstate 57 North/U.S.
60 East - Chicago. This cloverleaf interchange marks the southern
terminus of Interstate 57.
Week of February 14-20, 2005:
Location: Meridian, MS
Picture taken: July 30, 2003 during
Delaware Trip Part Two
Description: Interstate 20 East at Exit 130 - Interstate 59 South -
Laurel/New Orleans. Interstate 20 and Interstate 59 begin a long duplex
ahead that does not end until Birmingham, Alabama, which is about 150
miles northeast of this interchange.
Week of February 7-13, 2005:
Location: Maple Grove, MN

Description: Interstate 94/Interstate 694 West at Exit 27 - Interstate
94 - St. Cloud. The interchange marks the western termini of both
Interstate 494 and Interstate 694. Those two interstates make up a
beltway around Minneapolis and St. Paul.
Week of January 31-February 6, 2005:
Location: St. Clair Shores, MI

Description: Interstate 94 East at Exit 229 - Interstate 696 West -
Lansing/11 Mile Rd. This interchange is Interstate 696's eastern
terminus. The highway connects to Interstate 96 and Interstate 275 at
its other end.
Week of January 24-30, 2005:
Interstate 70 East near Hancock, Maryland, at Exit 1A - Interstate 68/U.S. 40 West - Cumberland. The interchange is located just south of the Pennsylvania state line. Interstate 68 connects this interchange to Cumberland and Morgantown, West Virginia, where it meets its other end at Interstate 79.
Week of January 17-23, 2005:
Interstate 49 South in Lafayette, Louisiana, at Exit 1A - Interstate 10 West - Lake Charles. The cloverleaf interchange ahead marks the current southern terminus of Interstate 49. The highway is planned to be extended to the south and east from here to meet Interstate 10 again in downtown New Orleans.
Week of January 10-16, 2005:
Interstate 24 West at Exit 25B - Purchase Parkway North/TO U.S. 62 - Calvert City. The parkway ends less than a mile north of here at U.S. 62.
Week of January 3-9, 2005:
Interstate 235 South in Wichita, Kansas, at Exit 16B - Interstate 135 North - Salina. This is the southbound beginning of Interstate 235. The interchange also marks the western end of K-254.
Week of December 27, 2004-January 2, 2005:
Interstate 35 North in West Des Moines, Iowa, at Exit 72A - Interstate 235 East - West Des Moines/Des Moines. Interstate 235 connects to Interstate 35 and Interstate 80 at both ends and provides access to downtown Des Moines.
Week of December 20-26, 2004:
Interstate 64 West at Exit 29B - IN 57 North - Petersburg. The northern terminus of Interstate 164 is located at this terminus. The interstate spur connects Interstate 64 to Evansville.
Week of December 13-19, 2004:
Interstate 80 East near East Moline, Illinois, at Exit 4A - IL 5/IL 92 West - Silvis. This cloverleaf interchange marks the western terminus of the western Interstate 88, which meets Interstate 290 near Chicago at its other end.
Week of December 6-12, 2004:
Interstate 95 North near Savannah, Georgia, at Exit 99A - Interstate 16 East - Savannah.
Week of November 29-December 5, 2004:
Interstate 95 North in Miami, Florida, approaching Exit 12A - Florida's Turnpike/FL 826 West, and Exit 12B - FL 826 East. The interchange ahead is one of the strangest in the country, as it serves Interstate 95, Florida's Turnpike, FL 9, FL 826, and U.S. 441.
