INTERSTATE 55

Interstate 55 connects New Orleans, Jackson, Memphis, St. Louis, Springfield, and Chicago. Most of the highway runs near the Mississippi River. The two cross paths twice; once in Memphis and the other in St. Louis.

Arkansas has just 72 miles of Interstate 55 within its borders, but that is more than both Louisiana (66 miles) and Tennessee (12 miles). The highway shares a 2-mile duplex with Interstate 40 in West Memphis.
