OKRoads.com -- Fields Trip -- Interstate 88 Illinois

The western Interstate 88 runs from Interstate 80 near East Moline, Illinois, to Interstate 290, just west of Chicago. On Day Three of the Fields Trip, I drove all of the western Interstate 88.

	Interstate 88 East at Exit 6 - IL 92 East - Joslin.
	Interstate 88 East at Exit 10 - Hillsdale/Port Byron.
	Interstate 88 East at Exit 18 - Erie/Albany.
	Interstate 88 East at Exit 26 - IL 78 - Morrison/Prophetstown.
	Interstate 88 East at Exit 36 - Rock Falls/ Sterling.
	Interstate 88 East at Exit 41 - IL 40 - Rock Falls/Sterling.
	Interstate 88 East at Exit 44 - U.S. 30 East - Joilet. This is the final exit before the East- West Tollway begins. Exit numbers are not posted on the tollway.

	Did we just go from Chicago to Atlanta? At least, this sign looks like it belongs in the Peach State instead of in Chicagoland. Interstate 88 will end in about 1/2 mile. The sign ahead says "Tollway Ends - Thank you for using the Illinois Tollway."
	Interstate 88 East comes to an end as Interstate 290 prepares to merge in 1/4 mile. The partially cut-off sign to the right says "Interstate 88 Ends - Begin Interstate 290."
	Interstate 88 East officially draws to a close as the ramp that leads to U.S. 12/20/45 exits. This interchange can bottleneck easily during the morning rush hour. Thankfully, this picture was taken at about 12:30 in the afternoon.
