Summer 2005 Roadtrip
July 5-15, 2005

The only major roadtrip planned during the summer of 2005 was this trip in July. It took me out east on Interstate 40 as far east as it goes, which allowed me to clinch that interstate. But here's where it starts to get complicated. From Wilmington, NC, the eastern terminus of Interstate 40, I went southwest to Charleston, SC, and met Interstate 26, and took that along its entire distance. From the northwestern end of Interstate 26 in Colonial Heights, TN, I drove Interstate 181 to its end, and then headed to the northeast through Virginia, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania. I then headed east along Interstate 86, New York 17, and Interstate 84 to Connecticut, and also visited Massachusetts, Vermont, and New Hampshire. Returning to Springfield, Massachusetts, I headed west on Interstate 90 to Cleveland, with a short sidetrip to Niagara Falls along the way. After Cleveland, I went south to Cincinnati, then northwest through Indianapolis to Bloomington, Illinois, then went northeast to Milwaukee, then west to Sioux Falls, then south to Omaha, west to U.S. 81, and south to Wichita and home. Whew!
