DESERTS & MOUNTAINS TRIP
Miscellaneous Pictures

The following are pictures from the Deserts & Mountains Trip that do not fit on any other page. These may include pictures from other roads that I spent just a couple minutes on (such as getting onto Interstate 76 in Denver for a couple miles and it was not in the trip plan). Also included are pictures from my time spent near Avila Beach, California.

PICTURES

Day One
Monday, June 23, 2003

OK 6 South at Interstate 40 West in Elk City.
The Motel 6 of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Day Two
Tuesday, June 24, 2003

NM 556 North at Interstate 40 West in Albuquerque.
View from the end of the off-ramp from Interstate 40
West at Exit 149 for Historic Route 66. The signs
in this area look like they are older than I am.
After taking a left turn and crossing Interstate 40,
the road intersects Interstate 40 East. Notice the
white Interstate 40 shield and the greenout where a
U.S. 66 shield once called home on the top half
of the sign.
A little further down the road, the road intersects
Historic Route 66. Again, notice the blank space
and the very old Interstate 40 shield.
Now looking westbound on Historic Route 66.
The street crossing the historic route is the same
street that I was on for the previous two pictures.
A stop sign with a couple extra words, this
"Complete Stop Please" sign is seen as motorists
depart the Giant Travel Center off Exit 39 of
Interstate 40.
AZ 89A South approaching Interstate 40 - 1 mile,
in Flagstaff, Arizona.
AZ 89A South approaching Interstate 40 - 1/4
mile. This is also the first mentioning that the
mainline highway becomes Interstate 17 ahead.
Interstate 17/AZ 89A South at Exit 340B - Interstate
40 West - Los Angeles.
The Motel 6 of Kingman, Arizona.

Day Three
Wednesday, June 25, 2003

U.S. 93 North at Interstate 40 East/U.S. 93 South in
Kingman, Arizona.
U.S. 93 North approaching Interstate 40 West.
U.S. 93 North at Interstate 40 West.
Normally, I don't take pictures of furniture stores
unless a road sign is in front of it, but this one in
Palmdale, California, caught my attention because
a good friend of mine has the same name.
The Motel 6 of San Luis Obispo, California.
"END CA 227" sign at the highway's western
end at U.S. 101 in San Luis Obispo.
A view of the Avila Beach area.
I'm surprised this picture didn't break the
camera! Anyways, yes, that is the webmaster of
OKRoads.com in this picture, with the Pacific
Ocean looming behind him. Just a little over a
month later, I took a picture of me with the
Atlantic Ocean behind me.
"Speed Limit 40" sign near Avila Beach.
Waves crashing at the Pacific Ocean.
View of the area surrounding the beach.

Day Four
Thursday, June 26, 2003

The Las Vegas Motor Speedway, north of Las
Vegas, Nevada.
My favorite Motel 6 of the trip was this one in
Cedar City, Utah.

Day Five
Friday, June 27, 2003

The view from my room at the Motel 6 of Cedar
City.
The Motel 6 of Grand Junction, Colorado.
The view from my room in Grand Junction.
The Grand Mesa is in the distance, and you
can also see the official transportation of
OKRoads.com.

Day Six
Saturday, June 28, 2003

Interstate 76 West at Exit 1A - CO 121 -
Wadsworth Blvd.
Interstate 76 East at Exit 1B - CO 95 -
Sheridan Blvd.
CO 121 South at Interstate 70/Interstate 76
East.
CO 121 South off-ramp at Interstate 70
West - Grand Junction.
Interstate 76 begins just to the left of this
picture, so the ramp from CO 121 to
Interstate 70 East also has a ramp to
Interstate 76 East.
The Holiday Inn Express of Colby, Kansas.

There are no miscellaneous pictures from Days 7-10.
