DELAWARE TRIP PART 2
Trip Summaries
Days 1-4 (Oklahoma City to Delaware)
DAY FOUR SUMMARY
Friday, August 1, 2003
This was the day I finally crossed the Chesapeake Bay. I did so at about 2 PM. Then I had 150 miles left before I arrived in Delaware. I ran into a few showers just past the Virginia-Maryland State Line, but otherwise, the weather ranged from cloudy to partly sunny. Now I get to rest for a couple days before I go on a sidetrip to Atlantic City, New Jersey.

DAY THREE SUMMARY
Thursday, July 31, 2003
Day Three was another relatively uneventful day of driving. I got to see Turner Field on this day. Turner Field, of course, is the home of the greatest baseball team ever, the Atlanta Braves. Then I went to Covington, GA, and after making several turns, I finally got to their visitors center. I needed to stop there because I got to Georgia too late to get their state map at the welcome center yesterday. They had exactly one official state map. "Had" is the key word. Anyways, I went on to South Carolina and stopped in Lexington for a late lunch, since I had a late breakfast. After leaving Interstate 20 behind, I got on Interstate 95 North and ran into some rain. It got heavy for about five minutes, then stopped for the rest of the day. The question of the day is: Why do some parts of Interstate 95 in North Carolina have a 65 mph speed limit and others have a 70 mph one? The speed limit was 65 until I got to Fayetteville, then I saw a sign that said "Reduced Speed Ahead," then the next sign I saw said "Speed Limit 70." Now, the last time I checked, reduced speed ahead means that the speed limit goes DOWN, not up!

DAY TWO SUMMARY
Wednesday, July 30, 2003
Day Two was a good day for driving. It started out cloudy but became sunny in the early afternoon. I drove 310 miles, then took a 2 hr., 10 min. break to, well, take more pictures of road signs, then drove 196 more miles. I met up with Chris Patriarca (see his website here) in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and we went "roadgeeking" around the area. It was a great time of food and talking about roads, presidential impersonations, and college football. I think I found a new friend. Besides that, there wasn't too much else that happened on this day.

DAY ONE SUMMARY
Tuesday, July 29, 2003
This was the day that the longest roadtrip of my life began. I took Interstate 35 South to Dallas, then got on Interstate 635 East, then Interstate 20 East for the rest of the day. I ended up at the Motel 6 of Monroe, Louisiana. The moral of the day: nobody drives the speed limit in Texas and Louisiana. Everybody goes at least 80. I did run into a few light sprinkles when I got to Monroe, but it was so short that it didn't make any difference.
