OKRoads -- Bayous & Blues Roadtrip -- Interstate 12 Louisiana

One of the shortest two-digit interstates in the country, Interstate 12 runs from Baton Rouge to Slidell, Louisiana. It bypasses the New Orleans area to the north and is a more scenic route for through traffic on Interstate 10 than taking Interstate 10 through New Orleans. Interstate 12 runs for 85 miles, and on the second day of this roadtrip I drove the whole distance of it.

	Interstate 12 East at Exit 7 - LA 3245 - O'Neal Lane in Baton Rouge. This is the last exit in Baton Rouge before Interstate 12's speed limit increases from 60 to 70.
	Interstate 12 East at Exit 10 - LA 3002 - Denham Springs.
	Interstate 12 East at Exit 15 - LA 447 - Walker/Port Vincent.
	Interstate 12 East at Exit 19 - Livingston Parish Road 45 - Satsuma/Colyell. This is a rare instance of a parish route being on a BGS on a Louisiana interstate.
	Interstate 12 East at Exit 22 - LA 63 - Livingston/ Frost.
	Interstate 12 East at Exit 29 - LA 441 - Holden. The tree-lined landscape is seen almost every mile of Interstate 12 east of Baton Rouge and even in mid-December it still looks pretty.

	Interstate 12 East at Exit 35 - LA 1249 - Baptist/ Pumpkin Center.
	Interstate 12 East approaching Exits 38A-B - Interstate 55 - 1 mile.

	Interstate 12 East at Exit 38A - Interstate 55 South -New Orleans. New Orleans is about 45 miles south and east of this cloverleaf interchange.
	Interstate 12 East at Exit 38B - Interstate 55 North -Jackson. The state capital of Mississippi is about 135 miles north of this interchange. Slidell, now the control city on Interstate 12 eastbound, is about 50 miles away.

	Interstate 12 East at Exits 63A-B - U.S. 190 -Covington/Mandeville. The Lake Ponchatrain Causeway begins a few miles south of this interchange, providing a direct connection to New Orleans.
	Interstate 12 East at Exit 65 - LA 59 - Abita Springs/Mandeville. Notice the TO I-59 shield - this indicates that this road will NOT lead you to Interstate 59! Interstate 59 begins about 20 miles east of this interchange at the same place where Interstate 12 finds its eastern terminus at Interstate 10.

	Interstate 12 East at Exit 83 - U.S. 11 - Pearl River/ Slidell. Interstate 12 will end in about two miles at Interstate 10.
