OKRoads -- Florida Trip -- Interstate 75 Georgia (Page One)

Interstate 75 is a major interstate through the states of Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, and Michigan. The highway serves the cities of Miami (indirectly), Tampa (also indirectly), Macon, Atlanta, Knoxville, Lexington, Cincinnati, Dayton, Toledo, Detroit, and Flint. On Day Six of the Florida Trip, I drove Interstate 75 from Interstate 16 to U.S. 80, on Day Seven, I drove Interstate 75 from Interstate 475 to Interstate 85, and on Day Nine, I drove Interstate 75 from Interstate 285 to Interstate 24.

	Interstate 75 North at Exit 218 - GA 20/ GA 81 - McDonough/Hampton. This exit provides one way of getting to the Atlanta Motor Speedway.

	This sign, about 1/4 mile south of Interstate 675, asks motorists to use Interstate 675 and Interstate 285 to get to Interstate 20 (Augusta) and Interstate 85 (Greenville) in order to avoid downtown. Well, since I hadn't driven much of Interstate 75 near downtown Atlanta, I drove it on this day. And it was bad traffic!!

	Let the traffic jam begin! This picture was taken at about 9 am on a Wednesday morning. There are seven northbound lanes here (including the HOV lane), and all of them are busy. By the way, this is Interstate 75/Interstate 85 North approaching Exit 244 - University Ave./ Pryor St. - 1/2 mile, and Exit 247 - Interstate 20 - 2 miles.

	Interstate 75/Interstate 85 North at Exit 246 - Fulton St./Central Ave./Downtown, as downtown Atlanta comes into view. Interstate 20 is 1/2 mile ahead.

	Interstate 75 and Interstate 85 go through several short tunnels near downtown Atlanta. This is one of them. The famous Peachtree Street is 1 3/4 miles from this point.
