OKRoads.com -- Delaware Trip -- Interstate 495 Maryland

Interstate 495 is better known nationwide as the Capital Beltway around the Washington, DC area. It carries Interstate 95 with it for most of its southern and eastern sections. On Day Eight of the Delaware Trip, I drove Interstate 495 North from U.S. 50, then west, then south, to Interstate 66 in Virginia.

	Now 3/4 mile away from the split of the two interstates. Notice the large Interstate 95 shields on these signs in the final mile appraoaching the split.

	Finally, after all the advance warning, Interstate 95 North splits from Interstate 495 West. Interstate 95 will enter Baltimore in just 23 miles.

	After the Interstate 270 interchange, Interstate 495 turns to the south. Here we see Interstate 495 South at Exit 39 - MD 190/River Rd. - Washington/Potomac.

	Interstate 495 South at Exit 41 - Carderock/Great Falls Md. This is the final exit in Maryland before the highway crosses the Potomac River and enters the state of Virginia.
