DELAWARE TRIP
Interstate 81 Tennessee

Interstate 81 gets its start at Interstate 40 near Dandridge, Tennessee, and goes through Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New York. Many semis use the interstate, and there are plans to widen the highway throughout the state of Virginia. On Day Eight of the Delaware Trip, I drove Interstate 81 from Interstate 66 to my hotel in Wytheville, Virginia, and on Day Nine, I drove Interstate 81 from Wytheville to Interstate 40.

	"Tennessee Welcomes You" sign at the Tennessee Welcome Center exit on Interstate 81 South. The highway lasts just 75 miles in the Volunteer State before ending at Interstate 40.

	Interstate 81 South at Exit 74A - U.S. 11W North/W. State St. - Bristol.
	Interstate 81 South at Exit 69 - TN 394 - Blountville.
	Interstate 81 South at Exit 66 - CR-126 - Kingsport/ Blountville.
	Interstate 81 South at Exit 63 - CR-357 - Tri-Cities Airport.
	Interstate 81 South at Exit 59 - CR-36 - Kingsport/ Johnson City.
	Interstate 81 South approaching Exits 57A-B - Interstate 181/U.S. 23 - 1 mile.
	Interstate 81 South approaching Exit 57B - Interstate 181/U.S. 23 North - Next Right.
	Interstate 81 South at Exit 57B - Interstate 181/U.S. 23 North - Kingsport. Interstate 181 will soon be replaced with a northward extension of Interstate 26 in this area.
	Interstate 81 South at Exit 57A - Interstate 181/U.S. 23 South - Johnson City. This will become an exit for Interstate 26 East in July 2003.
	Interstate 81 South at Exit 56 - Tri-Cities Crossing.
	Interstate 81 South at Exit 44 - Jearoldstown Rd.
	Interstate 81 South at Exit 36 - CR-172 - Baileyton/ Greeneville.
	Interstate 81 South at Exit 30 - TN 70 - Greeneville.
	Interstate 81 South at Exit 23 - U.S. 11E - Mosheim/ Greeneville/Bulls Gap.
	Interstate 81 South at Exit 15 - CR-340 - Fish Hatchery Rd.
	Interstate 81 South at Exit 12 - TN 160 - Lowland/ Morristown.
	Interstate 81 South at Exit 8 - U.S. 25E - Morristown/ Newport.
	Interstate 81 South at Exit 4 - CR-341 - White Pine Rd.
	Interstate 81 South approaching Exits 1A-B - Interstate 40 - 1 mile.
	Interstate 81 South comes to an end as Exit 1A for Interstate 40 East - Asheville heads off to the left and Exit 1B for Interstate 44 West - Knoxville continues straight ahead.
